Privacy Policy
FoldPix is a wallpaper app for iPhone Duo. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It covers the FoldPix iOS app and this website.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your favorites, recent searches and settings stay on your device.
- FoldPix can only add wallpapers to your Photos. It cannot see your photo library.
- We use Google Firebase for app analytics, crash reports and notifications.
- If you don't have FoldPix Pro, the app shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads are personalized only if you allow tracking. FoldPix Pro removes ads.
- We don't sell your personal information.
Who we are
FoldPix is developed and run by Karanveer, an independent developer. "FoldPix", "we" and "us" in this policy mean Karanveer, the developer of FoldPix. For anything about privacy, email [email protected].
What we collect and why
Information that stays on your device
Favorites, recent searches, grid layout, ad-frequency counters and similar preferences are stored only on your iPhone. We don't receive them. Deleting the app deletes them.
Photos
When you save a wallpaper, iOS asks for permission to add photos to your library. FoldPix uses this permission only to save the images you choose. It cannot read, browse or upload anything from your library.
Wallpaper catalog and search
To show wallpapers, the app downloads the catalog and images from our server. When you search, your search text is sent to our server to return results. We don't store search text with anything that identifies you or your device.
Notifications
To send notifications about new wallpapers, the app registers your device with our server. It sends:
- a random install ID created by the app (it is not tied to your Apple Account or to you);
- a push token from Firebase Cloud Messaging;
- the app version and build;
- your device's language and region setting and time zone (so notifications arrive at a sensible hour);
- whether notifications are turned on.
When you tap a notification, we count one more open for that notification. The count is a total; it isn't linked to your device. Registrations are deleted when the push token stops working, for example after you delete the app.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, for example which wallpapers are opened and saved, whether the Pro screen was shown and whether a purchase happened. Firebase also records an app instance ID, device model, iOS version, app version and an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address. We also record whether you have FoldPix Pro.
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports. A crash report includes technical details such as the device model, iOS version, app version and the state of the app when it crashed.
We use Firebase Remote Config to change app settings (such as how often ads appear) without an app update.
Advertising
If you don't have FoldPix Pro, the app shows ads from Google AdMob: full-screen ads after some saves, and optional rewarded ads you can watch to unlock a Pro wallpaper. Subscribers never see ads, and the ad SDK isn't started for them.
- Consent. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app shows Google's consent form before any ads load. You can change your choice at any time in FoldPix → Settings → Privacy Choices.
- Tracking. The app asks for permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Only if you allow it can Google AdMob receive your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and use it to personalize ads and measure them across apps. If you don't allow it, you may still see ads, but they are not based on tracking across other companies' apps and websites. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- What AdMob receives. Google may collect your IP address, device and app information, ad interactions and, if you allowed tracking, your advertising identifier. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Purchases
FoldPix Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment. We never see your payment card, name or Apple Account details. The app only learns from StoreKit whether you have an active purchase.
Server logs
Like most online services, our server and our network provider, Cloudflare, process your IP address and basic request details (such as the time and page requested) to deliver content, prevent abuse (rate limiting) and fix problems. These logs are kept for a short time.
This website
foldpix.app uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser requests them.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run FoldPix:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config) | Analytics, crash reports, notifications, remote settings. See Privacy and Security in Firebase. |
| Google (AdMob, User Messaging Platform) | Ads and consent for people without FoldPix Pro. See Google Privacy Policy. |
| Cloudflare | Network delivery and security for our server and website. |
| Our hosting provider | Running the server that stores the catalog and device registrations. |
| Apple | App Store purchases and push notification delivery. |
We don't sell personal information. If you allow tracking, AdMob uses your advertising identifier for personalized ads. Some laws, such as California's, call this "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out, don't allow tracking (or turn it off in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking), or get FoldPix Pro.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or ourselves.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
We process data to provide the app you asked for (the catalog, saving and notifications you turned on), based on our legitimate interests (analytics, crash reports, security and non-personalized ads), and based on your consent (personalized ads and tracking, and notifications). You can withdraw consent at any time as described below.
Your choices
- Ads and consent: FoldPix → Settings → Privacy Choices (shown where it applies).
- Tracking: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications → FoldPix.
- No ads at all: FoldPix Pro.
- Delete local data: delete the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EEA, the UK, Canada or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to data portability. To make a request, email [email protected]. Because FoldPix has no accounts, we usually can't link the data we hold to a person. Deleting the app stops all collection, and its device registration is removed once its push token stops working. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
How long we keep data
Device registrations are kept while their push token works and are deleted after it stops working. Notification open counts are totals and contain no personal data. Server logs are kept for a short time. Google keeps Firebase and AdMob data according to its own retention settings and policies.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). We keep the data we hold to a minimum and limit access to it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
FoldPix is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
